SEATTLE, WA — July 3, 2026 — Seattle-based artist Katie Wright releases Cycles, a powerful 15-track concept album that traces the arc from childhood trauma to breaking generational patterns. Following the releases of singles “DLG (dirty little groomer),” “Toxic,” and “Culture,” the complete album arrives as Wright’s most vulnerable work.
The Album
Cycles tells a complete story across several acts: breaking silence about childhood sexual abuse, confronting the wreckage in adult relationships, surviving further abuse, recognizing shared pain, and devotion to breaking the cycle for the next generation.
The album opens with “Generational,” a deceptively upbeat track that breaks the silence with the question: “Is it my dirty laundry or is it yours?” It closes with “Rockabye, baby,” an a cappella lullaby that offers tenderness and protection: “Between you and the cycles I will firmly stand.”
The Journey
Wright doesn’t shy away from difficult truths. “DLG” disguises the horror of grooming in a sweet sounding ukulele led-song that sounds like a love song until you really listen. “Toxic” examines the cycle of self-blame in repeated toxic relationships, asking “There’s a target on my back, did I put it there?”
“Normal” delivers one of the album’s most devastating questions: “If it’s a choice I made when I was a child, was it really a choice at all?” The album builds toward “Culture,” a protest anthem that transforms individual pain into collective action.
“That’s where you stop asking what you did wrong and start demanding accountability,” Wright notes. “You’re exhausted, but you realize you are not alone in this. That these kinds of abuses affect way too many people, and you can stand against it together.”
Visual Art
Each single release has been accompanied by original visual art by Wright, forming a cyclical series: a glowing child making a wish while dark figures await in the background, the child grown up, collecting darkness from a lover, protestors surrounding her in devastation and exhaustion, and finally a transformed figure protecting a glowing child from the darkness.

About Katie Wright
Katie Wright is a Seattle-based singer-songwriter, visual artist, and advocate. Known for her podcast, Staying Connected, and advocacy for people with VEDS (Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome), Wright brings the same unflinching honesty to her music that has defined her advocacy work.
Her 2025 debut album, Glitter, processed her life with a rare, life-threatening connective tissue disorder. Cycles is Wright using her platform to explore the formative experiences that shaped her development as a person.
Wright performs at Seattle-area open mics and creates songs that refuse to shy away from difficult truths. She also designs light-hearted sticker art as Sillybug Studios, believing in the importance of both processing pain and celebrating joy.
